Race report
Osborne, Van den Berg, Zimmermann, Dversnes, Velasco and Meens intitiate the breakway, while Apers, Le Berre, Ourselin, Balmer and Carretero chase them down to make it eleven at the front. They carve out a 5 minutes lead.
Pogacar hits the deck after 84.5 kilometres and he is forced to abandon.
Tratnik attacks from the peloton on the Wanne and he tracks down the five remaining leaders – Velasco, Osborne, Van den Berg, Ourselin, Zimmermann – with 65 kilometres to go.
The Slovene pushes on with Velasco in his wheel. The peloton overhauls the two on La Redoute, while Evenepoel strikes in the second half of the climb. Pidcock rejoins him after the summit, only to be dropped again when Evenepoel accelerates in a small climb with 30 kilometres remaining.
Skjelmose and Ciccone rejoin Pidcock before others bridge across as well.
The World Champion tackles the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons 1.20 minutes ahead of the chasers. Healy strikes from the chase group with Buitrago in his wheel. Pidcock tracks them down on the false flat after the summit.
Meanwhile, Evenepoel solos to a commanding solo victory. His second in a row in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
Pidcock outsprints Buitrago for second place.
