Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes 2020: Deignan solos to triumph

Elizabeth Deignan wins the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes from the breakaway. She jumps clear on La Redoute to solo to victory, while Grace Brown finishes in second place and Ellen van Dijk in third. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
The peloton remains bunched until Vos, Deignan, Pieters, Van Dijk, Labous, Aalerud, Barnes and Reusser escape with 50 kilometres remaining. Brown jumps across on the Côte de la Vecquée and the leaders reach the Redoute with a 1 minute lead.

Van der Breggen suffers a mechanical at the foot of the climb, while Deignan jumps clear at the front.

The Briton reaches the foot of Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons with a lead of 1 minute. Brown goes after her and halves her deficit on the climb. The other seven chasers are 1.30 minutes behind.

Browns keeps the pressure high, but Deignan holds off the Australian to take the win. Van Dijk powers to third place with a late attack.
