Race report
Borghesi, Zontone and Vettorello establish the breakaway early on. The three carve out a gap of more than 3 minutes before the peloton brings them back on the Stregna climb.
Longo Borghini and Moolman go on the counter attacks and reach the summit 30 seconds ahead of the main group.
Bastianelli and Koster go after the two on the run-in to the Monte Matajur to enter the finish climb 1 minute after the two leaders. The peloton is trailing at 2.18 minutes.
The main group gobbles up the chasers on the Matajur, while closing in on the two attackers. Which inspires Moolman to go solo.
Van der Breggen, Vollering, Deignan and Cavalli catch Longo Borghini and South-African forges on to a solo triumph. The two Dutch riders leave the others behind in the last kilometre to finish off the SD Worx party behind their team mate.
