The route is predominantly flat until the profiles changes dramatically at kilometre 70. In the village of Prasco a steep Wall appears. The 1.4 kilometres climb serves an average gradient of 16.4%.
Although the route will never be that steep again, the tone is set. The route goes either up or down for the next 52 kilometres.
With 30 kilometres remaining the riders move through Castelletto d’Orba and enter a 7 kilometres descent. After a number of short uphill kicks the last 3 kilometres of the route are entirely flat.
Three years ago, Kisteh Wild sprinted to victory in Ovada, although that route was much flatter.
