Saturday, 10 May – The 2nd stage of the Giro is a 13.7-kilometre individual time trial in the Albanian capital, Tirana. The riders face a 1.2 kilometre-climb at 5.7% midway through the route.

A numbers of tight turns in the course will slow the pace. The sections in between are quite the opposite, as these are straight and on wide roads.

After 5 kilometres, the riders reach the Parku i Madh, or the Grand Park. They ride along the edges before tackling the only climb on the route. It begins with 900 metres at 6.4%, before flattening out. The entire climb rises at an average gradient of 5.7% over 1.2 kilometres.

At the summit, the riders make a U-turn and descend on the opposite side of the road.

Last year, the Giro featured two individual time trials. The first, which finished with a short climb, was won by Tadej Pogacar, while Filippo Ganna claimed the second, which was completely flat. Both routes were considerably longer than the one in Tirana.

Another interesting read: favourites to win the Tirana ITT.
