Giro 2024 Favourites stage 11: For fast finishers #4

Tim Merlier giro - Giro 2024 Favourites stage 11: For fast finishers #4foto: Cor VosThe first 75 kilometres of the 11th stage are far from flat. But then the route goes downhill, and the last 100 kilometres are flat. So, the Giro is likely to see another sprint finish in the streets of coastal town Francavilla al Mare. The 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia covers 207 kilometres with a vertical gain of 1,850 metres. Not exactly nothing, but, as said, the last 100 kilometres are a sprinter’s dream.

Following a slightly downhill opening, the route ascends over 7.2 kilometres at 3.5% to San Bartolomeo in Galdo. The riders then descend to the foot of the only KOM climb of the day, which rises for 7.8 kilometres at 5.7% to Pietracatella. The 4.2 kilometres stretch at 4.8% to Ripabottoni Stazione forms the last uphill before an undulating section precedes a 30 kilometres downhill onto the pan-flat section along the Adriatic Sea. So, sprinters who were dropped from the pack have 100 kilometres to make it back.
