Giro 2023 Route stage 17: Pergine Valsugana - Caorle

Giro d'Italia 2023Wednesday 24 May - The 17th stage is the flattest of the entire Giro d’Italia. In fact, the route decends gradually from Pergine Valsugana in the Alps to Caorle on the Adriatic Sea. A bunch sprint is next to certain after 197 kilometres of action.

Pergine Valsugana is situated at 530 metres above sea level. After an extremely short climb from the start to 570 metres the route descends gradually to the coast. So the average gradient of the stage is 0.3%. Downhill.

Effectually, the riders leave the Alps when they cross the River Brenta in Bassano del Grappa to continue on the plains north of Venice. Long and straight roads lead the pink caravan towards the Adriatic Coast.

The Giro reaches the sea in Lido di Jesolo. Cruising along the sandy beaches the race continues in easterly direction to finish with an inevitable buch sprint in the streets of Caorle.

The second intermediate sprint comes with time bonuses of 3, 2 and 1 seconds, while 10, 6 and 4 seconds are awarded to the first three riders on the line.
