Giro 2021 Route stage 21: Senago - Milan

Giro d'Italia 2021Sunday 30 May - The Giro d'Italia concludes with a pan-flat time trial of 30.3 kilometres. The starting ramp is located in Senago, while the winners celebrate in the shadows of the stunning Milan Duomo.

Last year’s final ITT set off east of Milan, this time the riders start north of Italy’s key centre for finance. The route is virtually the same – namely, as flat as can be – although it is almost twice as long.

Filippo Ganna stormed to commanding victory on the final day of the 2021 Giro, finishing 32 seconds faster than Victor Campenaerts and Rohan Dennis.

As far as the route is concerned: it’s flat and it’s fast. On long straight roads the specialists can push a big gear, so breakneck speeds are to be expected. The intermediate time checks are situated at kilometre 9.2 and kilometre 18.8.

Last year’s final ITT turned out to be decisive and saw Tao Geoghegan Hart move into the pink jersey. Having started dead-level on time with Jai Hindley, the Briton went 39 seconds faster than the Australian to secure the GC victory.
