Giro 2020: Cerny solos to victory, Kelderman retains maglia rosa
At 258 kilometres, the 19th stage would have been the longest on this year's Giro, but after rider's protest it has been shortened to 124 kilometres. The victor comes from the breakaway: Josef Cerny solos to victory with a 30 kilometres effort, while Wilco Kelderman holds the pink jersey. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
Simon Pellaud, Victor Campenaerts and Josef Cerny open up a gap from the gun, while Iljo Keisse, Sander Armée, Giovanni Carboni, Nathan Haas, Marco Mathis, Simon Clarke, Lachlan Morton, Alex Dowsett, Albert Torres, Jacopo Mosca and Etienne van Empel track them down in a 20 kilometres chase.
BORA-hansgrohe keeps chasing in the peloton until they stop their efforts with 60 kilometres remaining. Then the gap widens to 9 minutes.
Campenaerts strikes inside the last 30 kilometres. Armée, Cerny, Pellaud, Mosca and Clarke go with him before Cerny goes solo. The Czech puts 40 seconds into the chasers.
When Keisse replaces Pellaud the gap falls below 30 seconds, but Cerny forges on to take the best victory in his career.
Kelderman finishes in the bunch, almost 12 minutes later, and stays in the maglia rosa.
