Straight from the gun the route goes uphill. The start in Valdaoro lies at an elevation of 1,096 metres and the riders climb to 1,530 metres before a sheer endless downhill leads to a minor climb. The riders ascend to Pieve d’Alpago before the route continues to drop down. The last 60 kilometres are flat, while the home straight in in Santa di Maria di Sala lies an elevation of 13 metres.
