Giro 2016 the route
The 2016 Giro d’Italia was won by Vincenzo Nibali. After he collapsed earlier in the race, he came back in the last three days. In the ultimate mountain stage he attacked on the penultimate climb, the Lombardia, to dethrone Esteban Chaves. The Colombian ended the Giro d’Italia as runner-up, while Alejandro Valverde finished in third.

Giro d'Italia 2016: The Route

Giro 2016 the route
May 6th, the 2016 Giro d'Italia did start in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, with a short individual time trial. Stages 2 and 3 were on Dutch soil also before a transport on the first rest day took the caravan to the south of Italy. The first Grand Tour of the season totals 60 kilometres of individual time trialing and offers seven mountain stages.
