Giro 2014: Hills in stage 2 - Mostly flat in Nothern Ireland
A 218 kilometre flat stage in the 2014 Giro takes the riders from Belfast's Titanic Quarter back to Belfast City Hall. Some minor hurdles included. (Slideshow route/profile)
The first climb is at the 113 kilometre point. In a little over 12 kilometres riders ascend 200 metres, an average gradient of just 1.6%. It’s comparable to the Paso del Turchino in Milan-San Remo, only twice as long.
A second climb lays waiting with 26 kilometres to go. This one is 2.2 kilometres long with an average gradient of 2.2%. Nothing to scare off the sprinters.
