Race report
Jessy Druyts is the first to attack. She is reeled in before she goes again, this time with Ilona Hoeksma, Maria Cavalli, Vita Heine and Lourdes Jimenez. Once more to no avail.
Pack remains bunched for quite a while, but at km 40 Thalita de Jong takes off. She opens up a gap of more than half a minute before she is brought back with 95 kms to go. So after all it was a short run for the Dutch pilot.
During both the first series over Baneberg, Kemmelberg and Monteberg and the semi-unpaved roads, the peloton splits to come back together. After the second run over the hills a group of 40 riders is slightly ahead of a chasing group, but once again the pack regroups.
Anouska Koster goes solo with 28 kms to go and when she is brought back Rozanne Slik counter-attacks. She is reeled after echelons and and ensuing accelaration in the main group.
Attacks are flying in the last kms, still the pack remains bunched. In the ensuing group sprint Marta Bastianelli outpowers Jolien D’Hoore on the line, while Lisa Klein finishes in third.
