Attacker Robert Gesink is brought back inside the last 400 metres of the 18th stage of La Vuelta. The first two riders on GC, Enric Mas and Remco Evenepoel, catch him before the red jersey wins the sprint and cements his GC lead.

Vuelta 2022 Route stage 18: Trujillo – Piornal

Thursday 8 September - Stage 18 at La Vuelta revolves around the highest town in all of Extremadura, Piornal. It's perched high on a mountain that forms the backdrop of a number of circuits in the second half of the race. The finish climb is 13.5 kilometres long, while the race totals 192 kilometres.
