On January 21th Tour Down Under 2014 starts with a relatively simple and short leg of 135 kilometers. Nice scenery, the 'country side' around Adelaide, South-Australia. Riders make three local laps and just before the finish line the face a modest hurdle: Menglers Hill.

Drivers aiming at a good classification should be aware, since the circuit at the end is treacherous. In the foothills of Mount Lofty, Tom-Jelte Slagter laid the foundation for last year’s overall victory.

Diego Ulissi has won the second stage in the 2014 Tour Down Under. The race started in Prospect and ended after 150 hilly kilometers in Stirling. At the finish line Ulissi was the fastest sprinter in a group of 25. Yesterday's winner Simon Gerrans came in second and is still GC leader.
