On Saturday 29 June, Le Grand Départ of the Tour de France took place in Florence, Italy, and the race finished in Nice, in the deep south of France, on Sunday 21 July. The race served up a total elevation gain of over 52,320 metres on a route spanning roughly 3,500 kilometres. There were five mountain top finishes.
