Stage 7 of the Tour de France is the first day in the Pyrenees. The race is marked by the climb up Col d'Aspin. Cummings is in the early break and he attacks just before hitting the Aspin. The 35-year old soloes to an impressive victory, while Van Avermaet cements his overall lead, because he was in the early break, too.

Friday, July 8, 2016 - The riders face a 162.5 kilometres stage between L’Isle Jourdain and Lac de Payolle. En route they are to crest only one mountain, but this definitely is an all time favourite in the Tour de France. The Col d’Aspin is in the race since 1910. The stage closes with a drop to Lac de Payolle and then a 1 kilometre climb to the finish line.

Stage 7 in the Tour de France is effectively a race in two stages. After a undulating opening of the race, the last 60 kilometres are firmly uphill. We can assume the GC guys are going to show themselves for the first time today.
