Simon Geschke is one of the early attackers and he takes an impressive victory home after a 50 kilometres solo over two mountains. Froome cements his lead with Contador crashing in the downhill of the Col d'Allos, while Van Garderen abandons.

The first Alpine trip in La Grande Boucle 2015 leads from Digne-les-Bains to Pra Loup. Three cols make up for a splendid start for a quartet of mountain stages in the next couple of days.
