After a fierce batte to be in the early break, the escapees are awarded with a chance to shine. MTN Quebeka rider Stephen Cummings powers to the win at the steep closing climb, besting Bardet and Pinot at the birthday of the late Nelson Mandela. A marvellous result for the South-African squad, who are debuting in the Tour de France. Once again, Froome puts time into his opponents.

Saturday, July 18, 2015 – After stages at the Wall of of Huy and Mûr de Bretagne, today brings the third race ending with a short and steep climb. At the end of the 178 kilometres route leading form Rodez and Mende it’s up to the puncheurs to show their strength. Or will an escapee be outsmarting favourites like Purito and Sagan?

Tour de France 2015 Favourites stage 14: Punchy climbers, again!

Following stages 3, 8 and 13, the 14th stage provides yet another opportunity for the punchy climbers. In 3 kilometres the Côte de la Croix Neuve is the longest and the average grade at 10% is not for the faint of heart either. At the top it's 1.5 kilometres of pushing to the line.
