Friday July 18th, 2014 - The first ride in the Alps and immediately a hors catégorie top finish. The ride from Saint-Etienne to ski-resort Chamrousse is tailor made to detonate the fireworks. And so it does. Vincenzo Nibali is once again in a class of his own and Valverde is creeping up in the GC, thanks to an off-day by Richie Porte.

Friday, July 18th – The 2014 Tour heads for the mountains in stage 13. In 197,5 kilometers the riders go from Saint-Etienne to a summit finish in the ski resort of Chamrousse.

The Col de la Croix de Mont Vieux is the warm-up today, the Col de Palaquit is a bit more serious and the climb to Chamrousse is the toughest with 18.2 kilometres to ascend. The break have a good chance today whilst the GC men will certainly battle it out on the final climb.

Friday July 18th, 2014 - The 197.5 kilometres between Saint-Etienne and Chamrousse contain three categorized climbs. After the Col de la Croix de Mont Vieux and the Col de Palaquit, the mountain goats will enjoy the hors catégorie Montee de Chamrousse.
