Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2016: Wout Poels wins his first Monument, Albasini in second

At around 250 kilometres, Liège–Bastogne–Liège features ten Ardennes hills. Due to hectic weather conditions (rain, snow), the race organisation changed the planned course during the race, yet all hills were still in the course. Poels, Albasini, Costa and Sanchez attacked on the last climb from an elite group, while the Dutchman from Team Sky powered to victory in the last 500 metres.

Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2016: Riders

The 102nd edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège is scheduled for April 24th, 2016. As in previous years, lots of strong riders will be at the the start. Among them title defender Alejandro Valverde and former winners such as Simon Gerrans and Daniel Martin. Other big names are Chris Froome and Vincenzo Nibali. Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2016: Favourites

Liege-Bastogne-Liege is the last and longest hilly classic in the spring. Following a week with both Amstel Gold Race and La Fleche Wallonne 'La Doyenne' is a veritable war of attrition. After a powerful victory in La Fleche Wallone Alejandro Valverde is top favourite, yet he is not the only rider with the required talent to win the race.

Sunday, April 24, 2016 – At 253 kilometres, ten Ardennes hills mark edition 102 of Liege-Bastogne-Liege. The distance is exactly the same as least year, yet the route offers a novelty. With 2.5 kilometres left the cobbled climb up Côte de la Rue de Naniot comes right after Côte de Saint-Nicolas. Furthermore, the infamous Stockeu is not in the 2016 Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
