La Course 2018: Van Vleuten outguns Van der Breggen in thrilling finale

La Course is a 112.5 kilometres race through the Alps and it comes down to the ultimate metres. In a race with four intermediate climbs Anna van der Breggen attacks in the last kilometre of the Col de la Colombière. Annemiek van Vleuten travels a few seconds after her over the top. She keeps chasing on descent to pip her compatriot in the dying metres of the race. Ashleigh Moolman finishes in third.

Tuesday, 17 July 2018 - The 5th edition of La Course is a single day race on mountainous terrain. The riders start in Duingt to finish in Le Grand-Bornand after 112.5 kilometres in the saddle. Intermediate climbs up the Col de la Romme and the Col de la Colombière spice up the demanding route.

Two days after the Giro Rosa the women meet again in La Course. Not a two-day event like last year, but one trying mountain race in the Alps.
