Following a long-range attack, Julian Alaphilippe is caught by Ewen Costiou, Christian Scaroni, and Giulio Pellizzari with 5 kilometres to go on the Monte Pana. The race then finishes on a wall, and that's where Tadej Pogacar takes the reins. He overhauls Pellizzari 600 metres from the line and wins his fifth stage in the Giro.

Giro 2024 Route stage 16: Spondigna – Monte Pana

Tuesday 21 May - The final week of the Giro d'Italia opens with a shortened stage of 118.4 kilometres with 1,800 metres of climbing. Following a flat first part, the race goes almost entirely uphill in the final 36 kilometres. The finish is situated atop the Monte Pana, with the last 2 kilometres ascending at over 10%.
