Breakaway riders Davide Bais, Simone Petilli and Karek Vacek battle it out on the Gran Sasso. Bais drops his companions in the last few hundred metres to emerge victorious. The GC riders keep their heads down and Andreas Leknessund retains the pink jersey.

Giro 2023 Route stage 7: Capua – Gran Sasso

Friday 12 May - The 7th stage of the Giro d'Italia travels to a summit finish at the high altitude plateau Campo Imperatore in the Gran Sasso massive. The race through the Apennines takes in three intermediate climbs, while the last 45 kilometres virtually all go uphill. The route totals 218 kilometres, making it one of the two longest races of the entire Giro.
