Giro 2020: Guerreiro outsprints Castroviejo, Almeida still leader

In wet conditions the riders venture into the high mountains in the 9th stage of the Giro. Ruben Guerreiro wins from the breakaway, besting Jonathan Castroviejo in a two up sprint. João Almeida holds on to the maglia rosa, although Wilco Kelderman and Jakob Fuglsang move closer.

Sunday 11 October - The 9th stage of the Giro d'Italia serves a trying course of 207 kilometres with an uphill finish in Roccaraso. The altitude gain adds up to more than 4,000 metres.

The last stage ahead of the first rest day is long (207 kilometres) and hard (4,000 vertical metres). Time gaps will open up between the GC riders, that's for sure. Whether they will battle it out for the stage win, that's another story.
