Giro 2020: Hindley wins Queen Stage, Kelderman new leader

The 18th stage detonates the fireworks at the Giro. Good weather, the iconic Stelvio, and a GC that bursts out into blossom. Jai Hindley outsprints Tao Ghegegan Hart on the line, while Wilco Kelderman moves into the maglia rosa.

Thursday 22 October - The penultimate mountain stage on the Giro is a race from Pinzolo to Lago di Cancano. After passages over the Campo Carlo Magnon, Passo Castrin and the infamous Passo dello Stelvio the final haul up is 8.7 kilometres long and crammed with hairpins.

Will the breakaway be successful or is a maglia rosa contender going to turn out on top? A big clash is waiting to reveal itself on stage 18. The Stelvio is - with 24.7 kilometres at 7.5% - the climb of the day, but the triumph will be decided on the ascent up to the Lakes of Cancano.
