Giro 2017: Pöstlberger bests sprinters to take maglia rosa

The 100th edition of the Giro d'Italia opens with a sprint stage from Alghero to Olbia. That is, in theory. The race doesn't come down to a bunch sprint as Pöstlberger soloes to victory ahead of the sprinting peloton. Ewan comes in second.

Friday, 5 May 2017 – At 206 kilometres, stage 1 in the 100th edition of the Giro d'Italia leads from Alghero to Olbia on the island Sardinia. Chances are it will be up to the fast men. Obviously, the stage winner is the first rider to start in pink in the 2017 Giro d'Italia.
