Giro d’Italia 2016 Stage 13: Nieve soloes to glory in third mountain stage, Amador new overall leader

In stage 13 the riders are to crest four peaks, yet the finish is in the valley - 13 kilometres after the last top. Mikel Nieve is the strongest climber in the break of the day and he soloes to victory. Bob Jungels is dropped on the last climb, and he is forced to hand over the pink jersey to Andrey Amador. Nibali bests Valverde in the sprint for third place and now sits in third.

Friday, May 20th, 2016 - In stage 13 of the 2016 Giro d'Italia the riders face 161 kilometres between Pamanova and Cividale de Friuli. En route four mountains lay waiting. From head to tail the race is in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in the northwestern part of Italy. The finish is 13 kilometres after cresting the last peak.
