Race report
A lot of movement from the start, but it’s only on the Col des Saisies that the breakaway forms. The right move is made by Marc Soler, Davide Formolo, and Lorenzo Fortunato. Nicolas Prodhomme and Darren Rafferty bridge across shortly after, while Kevin Geniets and Warren Barguil make the junction in the last part of the Saisies. Eventually, Mathis Le Berre, Koen Bouwman, and Guillaume Martin make it ten at the front just before the summit.

After a long chase, Mark Donovan also manages to catch up during the descent of the Côte d’Arâches.

Soler drops his companions on the Col de La Ramaz. He reaches the summit 1.40 minutes ahead of the first chasers, Fortunato, Barguil, Rafferty, Bouwman, and Prodhomme. By then, the peloton is over 5 minutes in arrears

The GC group closes in to 2 minutes in the last 7 kilometres of the finish climb. Remco Evenepoel loses contact, and the GC riders keep on pushing.

The lead of the soloist is down to 1 minute in the final 3 kilometres. It goes down fast, and he is caught with over 2 minutes remaining.

The GC group remains together until Primoz Roglic speeds up in the last 150 metres. Matteo Jorgenson follows his move, and that’s what it is – he follows. The yellow jersey takes his second stage win in two days to extend his lead in the GC to over 1 minute. Jorgenson replaces Evenepoel as the runner-up, while Derek Gee moves up to third place.
