As far as theory goes, stage 4 could be for the tougher sprinters or a couple of breakaway boys. The terrain offers plenty of hills, but it never gets really awkward. Halfway through two cols of the 3rd and 4th category lay waiting, there is a long and not too steep ascent which remains uncategorized and then we are 170 kilometres en route. The remainder is fairly easy with two short yet tricky hills in the last 10 kilometres.
Sisteron is beautifully located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Actually leaning against a huge rock, the town is stunningly picturesque and to top it all off Sisteron is crowned with a Citadel.
